I've been unable to use this HP Scanjet 3970 for a couple of months. It used to work with my Tiger. I don't know why or exactly when it stopped working. At one point my system was refusing to go to sleep...or would wake up within a minute or so of going to sleep. I pulled out the USB for the Scanjet and haven't had that problem since.
I went through a back-and-forth with HP support about this. Checked the machine itself, works fine. Totally deleted and then re-installed the software with their step-by-step. They then told me to ask Apple for support because they reckon it as a problem with my system.
I am trying now again.
This is what happens:
I open the HP Image Zone, hit 'Make Copies'
The HP Scanjet Copy Utility opens. I check 'Text and Line Drawing'. Hit 'Copy'.
Printer comes up. I use 'Standard' and hit 'Print'
The bar for 'Copying to printer' comes up but does not move. And the printer barbershop bar comes up, rolling but makes no progress.
The scanner itself does nothing at all. (As I said, months ago it worked just fine.)
Then after waiting several minutes ... I hit 'cancel'. Nothing happens.
I use 'Force Quit'.
In the dock, the 'HP Scanjet Copy Utility' still has the little black triangle by it, even after 'Force Quit'. (It does not, however, appear any longer in 'Force Quit Applications'.
And if I then re-open 'HP Image Zone' and try again to 'Make Copies', that icon blinks when I hit it but nothing at all happens.
I need help!
Thank you.
